Michael
Hickey is in his 22nd year at The Stony Brook School,
one of the most prestigious college prep schools in the nation. It
had been a circuitous route, however, before arriving at Stony
Brook in the fall of 1986. In 1980, Michael graduated from
the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point with
a B.S. in engineering and a commission in the U.S. Navy.
After sailing on oil tankers with Exxon as an engineer, he became a missionary for two years on the MV Doulos,
an evangelistic missions ship. Michael joined the pastoral
staff at Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle in 1983 and served there
for three years before coming to The Stony Brook School.
Presently he teaches AP Biology and Physics and is the SAT
tutor for the school. Over the years he has tutored
hundreds of students in preparation for the SAT. He
has taught SAT Prep courses for years as well. To date, the average increase
per student has been 240 points. |
